COAS General Chhatraman Singh Gurung returns

 
 

On 19 December, COAS General Chhatraman Singh Gurung returned to Nepal after the completion of his 8 days official visit to India. General Gurung was received by the Acting COAS Maj. Gen. Toran Jung Bahadur Singh at the airport. A guard of honor was also accorded to Gen. Gurung by the Nepalese Army. Foreign Defense Attaches and high ranking NA Officers were also present to receive Gen. Gurung.

COAS General Chhatraman Singh Gurung had left for India on an official visit on the invitation from Chief of the Army Staff, Indian Army and Chairman of the Chief of Staff Committee, General Deepak Kapoor on 11 December.

On 12 December COAS General reviewed the Gentleman Cadet Passing out Parade at the IMA, Dehradun, and also conferred the rank of Second Lieutenant on foreign cadets. On 14 December, Her Excellency Mrs. Pratibha Patil, the President of India, conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army on General Chhatraman Singh Gurung, Chief of the Army Staff, Nepalese Army, amidst an investiture ceremony at Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. General Gurung also visited United Service Institution and Centre for UN Peacekeeping.

During his tour of visit General Gurung called on Minister of Defense AK Antony, Minister of External Affairs SM Krishna, Foreign Secretary Mrs. Nirupama Rao, National Security Advisor Mr. MK Narayan, Secretary of Defense Mr. Pradip Kumar, Air Chief Marshall PV Naik and General Deepak Kapoor, COAS, Indian Army. General Gurung also visited Defense Research and Development Organization. On 16 December, General Gurung addressed and inspected the Defense Services Staff College in Wellington.
