"COAS 5th International Women's Football Tournament" Concludes


"COAS Fifth International Women's Football Tournament" concluded at Nepali Army Football Ground, Bhadrakali on November 23, 2017. In the final match of the tournament between APF women's football team and TAC women's football team, APF defeated TAC by 3-2 goal margin to become the champion. Sajana Rana of APF women's football team was judged the women of the final game.

COAS Gen Chhetri awarded the championship trophy, medals and certificates to the winners. The champions, APF women's football team, bagged three lakhs rupees (NPR 3,00,000), runners up TAC women's football team received one lakh fifty thousand rupees (NPR 1,50,000) and other two semi-finalists, Mid region women's football team and Nepal Police women's football team, received fifty thousand rupees (NPR 50,000) each.

Krishna Khatri and Deepa Rai of TAC women's football team, Manamaya Limbu and Anjila Tumbampo of APF women's football team were judged as the best striker, the best midfielder, the best defender and the best goalkeeper respectively. Likewise, Janak Singh of APF women's football team was declared as the best coach. The best players in each category (Goalkeeper, Defender, Striker and Midfielder) and the best coach of the tournament were awarded with ten thousand rupees each. Sabitra Bhandari of APF women's football team received NPR 25, 000 for being the best scorer of the tournament. Sapana Lama of TAC women's football team was awarded a scooter for being the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament. Sikkim Women's football team (India) received the 'Fair Play' award.

The international level football competition organized by Nepali Army started on November 17, 2017. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri inaugurated the tournament amid a special programme.

Defense secretary, Youth & Sports secretary, Former Chief of the Army Staffs of NA, heads of the sister security organisations, general officers of NA, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, officials from ANFA, media personnel along with enthusiastic spectators witnessed the closing ceremony and final game of the football tournament.
