The President of India Confers the Honorary Rank of General of the Indian Army on COAS General Chhatraman Singh Gurung

On 14 December, Her Excellency Mrs. Pratibha Patil, the President of India, conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army on General Chhatraman Singh Gurung, Chief of the Army Staff, Nepalese Army, amidst an investiture ceremony at Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.

On the same day, COAS General Gurung called on the Secretary of Defense Mr. Pradip Kumar, Air Chief Marshall PV Naik and General Deepak Kapoor, COAS, Indian Army. General Gurung also visited United Service Institution and Centre for UN Peacekeeping. In addition, General Gurung laid wreaths to pay homage to soldiers attaining martyrdom at Amar Jawan Jyoti.
