The Mid Command Headquarter, with the motto," Gandaki Rakshaiwa Nepal Rakshya ", was raised on July 16, 2021 (2078 Shrawan 01 B.S) at Pokhara, Kaski. Major General Binaya Bickram Rana is the current General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Mid Command.

Major General Binaya Bickram Rana was born in 1967 in Kathmandu. A graduate of Nepali Military Academy, he was commissioned into the Gorakh Bahadur Battalion, one of the oldest Infantry Battalions in the Nepali Army. He completed his Army Command and Staff Course from the Army Command and Staff College Shivapuri and NDC from China. He holds a Master’s Degree in History and Strategic Studies from the Tribhuban University, Nepal. He has also attended many courses and training in home and abroad. Maj Gen Rana is decorated by the prestigious Janasewa Shree Third Class.

Maj Gen Rana has held various command and staff appointments at home and abroad during his illustrious career. He has commanded an independent Infantry Company (Kebal Jung Company) in 2002 and an Infantry Battalion (Barda Bahadur Battalion) in 2007 Likewise he has commanded 28 Infantry Brigade and also commanded western Division in 2020. Now, he is appointed as the first Commanding General of Mid Command HQ.

Among his not able staff appointments are the Brigade Major and Operation Officer in a Division Headquarters. Similarly, he has served as the Military Secretary in Nepali Army HQ, National Security council secretriate, Instructor in War College and Commandant in Battle School.

He has held an appointment of Deputy Military Adviser during his illustrious career and also held a diplomatic appointment as the Strategic Planner in US Centcom, HQ Florida. Maj Gen Rana is married to Mrs Supriya Shah.
