The Valley Command Headquarter, with the motto,"Bagmati Rakshaiwa Nepal Rakshya", was raised on July 16, 2021 (2078 Shrawan 01 B.S) at Narayanhiti, Kathmandu. Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel is the current General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Valley Command.

Biography of Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel Kshatri

Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel Kshatri joined the Nepali Army in 1987 (2043-11-03). He was commissioned from Royal Nepalese Military Academy, Nepal and posted to Shree Devidutta Battalion on 19 February, 1988 (2045-02-19).

He has attended various career courses in Nepal and abroad. He is alumnus of Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri and National Defense University, China. He holds Masters Degree in Strategic Studies, Nepal.

Besides the mandatory career courses, he has also attended Global Peace Operation Initiative Capstone Exercise in India, UN Peace Keeping Operation Contingent Commander Course, Indonesia and Military Operation Course, Singapore.

In his service career, he has held various staff, command and instructional appointments. His important staff appointment includes SO to MGO, GSO-1 at Military Secretariat, MA to Chief of Army Staff and Director at Directorate of Military Operation. He has successfully commanded various levels of infantry units and formation. His command includes Birdal Company, Ranasher Battalion, No 27 Brigade and Mid Division Headquarters. He is currently appointed as GOC of Valley Command Headquarters. His instructional appointment includes Commandant of Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School.

His interests are trekking, hiking, listen classic Nepali songs, read books related to military history and contemporary issues.

He is happily married to Mrs. Nita Sigdel and blessed with a son.
