Biography of MAJOR GENERAL SITARAM KHADKA
Major General Sitaram Khadka, Son of Keshar Bahadur Khadka and late Chandra Kumari Khadka, was born on December 18, 1965 at Sindhupalchowk District Nepal. He was commissioned from the then Royal Nepalese Military Academy into the Kaliprasad Battalion (Engineers), Nepali Army, on June 04, 1988.
A qualified paratrooper, Maj Gen Khadka has undertaken a number of courses from various training schools of Nepali Army: namely, the Field Engineers, Junior Staff, Intelligence and Security, Company Commander, United Nations Logistic, Army Command and Staff College and Higher Command & Management course. Additionally, he has also received Engineers YO’s course from India and Engineer Officers’ Earth Moving Plant course from Hong Kong. Similarly, Maj Gen Khadka has undertaken Senior Command and Staff course from China, and Army War College from the United States of America. He has also attended various workshops and professional seminars at National and International level. At National level, he has attended the National Mine Action Strategy formulation, and Disaster Preparedness and Response Planning Workshops. Abroad, he has attended the Seminar on international Response in Countering Terrorism in the Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California, USA, and United Nations CIMIC Workshop in Entebbe, Uganda. He holds Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Maj Gen Khadka has 33 years of military experiences during both peace and conflict, at home and abroad. As an Instructor, he has worked in Engineer Training Center, Military Academy, Nepali Army War College, and Army Command and Staff College. He has effectively commanded an Independent Company and an Infantry Battalion during the last insurgency period in Nepal. He has also successfully completed the Infantry Brigade command. Maj Gen Khadka has also held staff billets at all levels, including G3 ops both in Engineers and Infantry Brigade, Assistant Chief of Staff (Operations) at Infantry Division HQ. At Army HQ, he has served in different departments to include DGMT & D, DGMI, QMG. He has also served as Deputy Military Secretary and Military Assistant to Chief of the Army Staff. Prior to his current appointment as Division Commander, Mid Western Division, he has served as Commandant of Nepali Military Academy.
Maj Gen Khadka's experiences with the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations include service in the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR), and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as an Engineer Officer; the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) as a Military Observer, and the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) as a Chief Military Personal Officer.
Maj Gen Khadka has been decorated with the Suprabal Janasewashree, Prabal Gorkha Dakshinbahu, and several other national and United Nations Medals. He is also conferred with the COAS Commendation Badge.
Maj Gen Khadka is married to Mrs. Uma Khadka and is blessed with two sons; Sauhard and Samyam. His hobbies include reading, travelling and lawn Tennis.
