Chief of general Staff of PLA, General Chen Bingde, arrives.

1. General Chen Bingde, member of the Central Military Commission of People’s Republic of China and the Chief of General Staff of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) arrived Nepal on a three-day visit on March 23 on the invitation of Chief of Army Staff General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung. 2. General Chen Bingde was welcomed by Chief of Staff of NA Lt. Gen Toran Jung Bahadur Singh at Tribhuvan International Airport. General Bingde received Guard of Honor from a troop of Nepalese Army. After that he laid wreath on “Brave Memorial” situated at Army Pavilion at Tudikhel. Then he called upon CoAS General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung at Army HQs, Bhadrakali. An Introductory brief was organized to apprise Chinese General on roles and different activities of Nepalese Army which was followed by significant discussions to strengthen the bilateral cooperation of two Armies. In the same event, a “Signing in Ceremony” was organized in between two Generals which commit Chinese Government to grant medical equipment for Birendra Sainik Hospital and necessary equipments required for rescue operations worth 100 million RMB Yuan. The agreement signed also commits engineering equipment worth 30 million RMB Yuan to NA. 3. On 24th March, General Bingde is scheduled to pay a courtesy call upon Rt. Honourable President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal and Defence Minister Bishnu Poudel.
