Chief of Army Staff General Gurung to attend 7th Pacific Armies Chief’s Conference

Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Chattra Man Singh Gurung is to participate in 7th Pacific Armies Chief’s Conference (PACC- VII) on a joint invitation by US Army Chief General Martin E. Dempsey and Singapore Armed Forces Chief Major General Chan Chun Sing from 28th to 31st July 2011. PACC is a biennial multinational military conference providing the forum for regional (Asia-Pacific) Chiefs of Army to exchange views, establish and enhance institutional relationship and foster security cooperation. During his visit, he will also attend 35th Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS –XXXV) in Singapore and participate in various programmes. During the conference, Gen Gurung will interact with the Army Chiefs and representatives of USA, China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Canada, South Korea, Thailand, Maldives, Srilanka, Malaysia and Singapore on issues of bilateral co-operation. The visiting members are the CoAS Gen Gurung, his spouse Mrs. Kamala Gurung and a Staff Officer. The team will return on 3rd August 2011. During his absence, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen Gaurav Shumsher JBR will take up the responsibility of Acting Chief of Army Staff.
