Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung returned home today after attending the 7th Pacific Armies Chief’s Conference (PACC- VII) co-hosted by US Army and Singapore Armed Forces from July 28 to July 31, 2011. PACC is a biennial multinational military conference providing the forum for regional (Asia-Pacific) Chiefs of Army to exchange views, establish and enhance institutional relationship and foster security cooperation. During his visit, Gen Gurung called on the Army Chiefs and representatives of USA, China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Canada, South Korea, Thailand, Maldives, Srilanka, Malaysia and Singapore focusing mainly on issues of bilateral and multi-lateral co-operation. CoAS General Gurung was jointly invited by the US Army Chief General Martin E. Dempsey and the Singapore Armed Forces Chief Major General Ravinder Singh. CoAS General Gurung was received by Acting CoAS Lieutenant General Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana and US Ambassador to Nepal HE Scott H. DeLisi at the Tribhuvan International Airport. CoAS General Gurung was given a ‘Guard of Honor' by a troop of Nepalese Army upon his arrival. High Ranking Officers of the Nepalese Army and the resident Defense Attachés of foreign embassies to Nepal were present on the occasion. General Gurung was accompanied by his wife during the visit.
