Chief of the Army Staff, General Gurung departs for USA to attend the 14th Annual Asia-Pacific Chiefs of Defense Conference

1. Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS), General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung left for USA to attend the 14th Annual Asia-Pacific Chiefs of Defense (CHOD) Conference on 16th October 2011. The conference is organized by US Pacific Command (US PACOM) in Honolulu, Hawaii from 17th October to 20th October 2011. This year’s conference will mainly focus on the issue of “Multi-Lateral Approaches to Maritime Security (MARSEC) in the Asia – Pacific.” 2. The conference will also focus on the issues of natural calamities and disaster management and lessons to be learnt from the recent earthquake of Japan. The conference will be attended by Army chiefs of 27 countries. Admiral Robert Willard, Commander US PACOM will deliver the welcome speech to the participants. 3. Chief of Staff (CoS) Lt. General Gaurav SJB Rana bade farewell to CoAS Gurung at Tribhuwan International Airport. Generals and high ranking officers of the NA were also present on the occasion. 4. The CoAS General Gurung, is accompanied by his spouse Mrs Kamala Gurung and staff officers. The team will return on 26th October 2011.
