1. A short film competition organized by the Nepalese Army concludes on May 7, 2012 amidst a special function at the Army Officers’ Club. 2. Chief Guest, Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS), General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung gave away cash prizes and certificates to the best five contestant and certificates to all the participants. Shiva Sharma’s "DESH, JANATA, NEPALI SENA" received 150 thousand rupees for being the best film. Similarly, "MY PRIDE" of Sunita Raj Bhandari and "THAT SOLDIER" of Som Nath Khanal received 100 thousand rupees and 50 thousand rupees respectively. Bimala Basnet’s “ASTETO” and S.S Vision’s “NEPAL AMMA KO CHITKAR” got consolation prizes of 10 thousand each. 3. Out of 19 short films based on the theme “NEPALI JANATA KO HITT MA NEPALI SENA”, five films were selected from initial screening. 4. General Gurung also felicitated the judges of the competition with certificates and letters of appreciation. The jury members include Senior Director Yadav Kharel, Director Akash Adhikari, Senior Cinematographer Uttam Silwal, T/Lt Col Ishwor Shrestha, Capt Shailaja Shrestha and T/Lt Santosh Panta. 5. On the occasion, General Gurung presented cash prizes and certificates to the best writers of “Sipahi 2068", the Nepal Army annual journal. Lt Col Santosh Ballav Poudyal’s “Transitional Pacts' as Determinants of Future Civil Military Relation” bagged the first prize. Likewise, Assistant Prof Dr. Binod Thapa’s “American Army’s Supreme Medal ’Legion of Merit’ and Nepal-US relations” and Maj General Rajendra Chhetri ‘s “The Feature of Peace Operations” stood second & third respectively. 6. High ranking officials of Nepal Army, celebrities of Nepali film industry and participants of the film competition attended the program.
