1. Right Honorable President Dr. Ram Varan Yadav inaugurated the Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences on May23, 2012 amid a ceremony at Bhandarkhal, Kathmandu. 2. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chief Guest President Yadav lauded NA initiative for establishing such a large health institute and emphasized on quality education to produce skilled manpower. 3. Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Ministry Krishna Prasad Sitaula praised the NA for its contribution made in the Health sector within such a short period. He said “the NA has initiated a new era in Health sector and reiterated absolute support of the government for the institution”. It is noteworthy to mention that the construction of the NAIHS began on October 10, 2010. 4. On the occasion, CoAS General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung expressed his gratitude to all the support staffs and those involved in the construction of the Institute. TU Vice Chairman Dr. Hira Bahadur Maharjan and IOM Dean Dr. Arun Sayami also shared their views during the function. 5. The principal of the College of Medicine, Brig Gen Dr. Shiva Bdr Basnet and NAIHS Executive Director Brig Gen Dr. Prakash Raj Pandey highlighted upon the history of the institution. 6. The institute aims to produce skilled health workers to fulfill the requirement of highly qualified manpower in the field of health and also provide quality education to the children of serving and retired military personnel along with the general public. The institute also plans to establish College of Polytechnic and College of Dental Surgery in the near future. 7. Present on the occasion were honorable Ministers, Chief Secretary, Ambassadors, Secretaries of various ministries, retired Army Chiefs, Academicians, Heads of security organizations, serving Generals, residential Defense Attachés, officials of IOM, NA officers, government officers, media persons, and the families of the students.
