CoAS First National Women's Football kicks off

The CoAS First National Women's Football competition kicked off from July 29, 2013 at Army HQs Ground, Bhadrakali. Chief of General Staff(CGS) Lt Gen Netra Bahadur Thapa inaugurated the competition amid a special programme. Players of TAC Women team trying to score against the Western Region Women Team. In the first game of the day, Tribhuvan Army Club routed the Western Region by 14-0. Dipa Adhikari and Sapana Lama both scored 4/4 goals each while Krishna Khatri and Bhujunga Rai scored a brace each. Indira Rai and Kabita Dhimal each scored a goal to boost the huge win. The second game between Eastern Region and Far Western Region was a competitive match with 2-2 in the normal time. Dipa Neupane and Madhu Mukhiya scored for Eastern Region while Rubina Chaudhary and Mina Chaudhary scored for the Far Western Region. But Far Western Region became triumphant in the penalty shootout with 5-3 score over the Eastern Region. The national level competition organized by Nepalese Army in technical assistance from All Nepal Football Association includes five regional teams and three departmental teams, Nepal Army's Women team, Nepal Police's Women Team and Armed Police Force's Women Team. The knock-out competition will conclude on August 2, 2013. The winner of the competition will get the shield and cash prize of 300,000 while the runner-ups and second runner-ups will receive NRs 150,000 and 75,000 respectively. The best player will receive the scooter while the Best Coach, Best Goalkeeper, Best Defense, Best Midfielder and Best Forward will receive NRs 10000 each. Nepalese Army will bear all the transportation, accommodation and fooding costs of the entire competition. The high ranking officials of Nepalese Army, Armed Police Force, officials from ANFA and NWFA along with enthusiastic spectators witnessed the opening ceremony and the matches.
