CoAS General Gaurav SJB Rana launched 'Sallaghari', an annual magazine on the occasion of 28th anniversary of Sainik Awasiya Mahavidalaya (SAMV), Bhaktapur on Dec 29, 2013 amid a special function.
The principal of the school, Mr. Shamim Anwar Shamim welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries along with the guardians of the students. The students presented a spectacular cultural show. Chief Guest CoAS Gen Rana gave away the prizes to the students who stood first in various events.
SAMV, Bhaktapur was the premiere school established to impart the quality education to the children of serving and retired army personnel along with their civilian students. The school started from BS 2035(1978 AD) at Bhimphedi, Makwanpur which was later shifted to Sallaghari, Bhaktapur in BS 2044(1987 AD). The school is one of the biggest among the army schools in the country. To develop the school as the centre of excellence, the B.Sc. stream was inducted from 2012 while BBA stream started earlier this year.
There are 9 schools, 1 medical college and 1 Nursing College running under Nepalese Army Welfare Fundâ€™s Education Scheme. These institutions are providing quality education to the students. Altogether 7599 students are studying in these educational institutes, out of which 5403 students are children of serving and retired army personnel while rest 2196 are civilians. Also, 1058 people are involved in these institutions.
Present on the occasion were Generals and Officers of NA, Professors and Officials from Tribhuvan University, Chairperson and officials of NAWA, Parents, teachers of the school along with the students.
