Indian Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Bikram Singh together with the Nepalese Army Chief General Gaurav SJB Rana observed the Indo-Nepal Joint Group Training Exercise Surya Kiran-VI at Integrated Army Training Center (IATC) in Saljhandi, Rupandehi on March 14, 2014. Visiting Indian Army Chief General Singh and COAS General Rana were presented a jointly performed demonstration by the participating troops from both the friendly countries. General Singh has lauded the exercise and demonstration carried out by the troops collectively. The armies of Nepal and India are jointly conducting the two-week long military exercise titled Exercise Surya Kiran-VI at IATC in Saljhandi starting from March 5, 2014. The Battalion-level joint training focuses on jungle warfare and counter insurgency operations in heavily forested terrain. In this exercise, troops from the Indian Army and the Nepalese Army totaling 450 are sharing their experiences to upgrade their practical and principle aspects of counter insurgency operations. The last Joint Group Training Exercise Surya Kiran-V was conducted at Pithoragarh, India in 2013. COAS General Rana had also attended similar event organized during the joint exercise.
