COAS Visit to India

Chief of the Army Staff General Gaurav SJB Rana visited India on the invitation of Indian Army Chief General Bikram Singh from 10th June till 17th June to attend the Passing Out Parade (POP) at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun as the Chief Reviewing Officer on June 17, 2014. COAS General Gaurav SJB Rana, as the Chief Guest, had reviewed the POP at the IMA Drill Square in front of historic Chetwode building and had taken part in the presentation of mementoes to the Colour Party & Cane Orderlies before he posed for a photograph with the award winners. Addressing the gathering, Gen Rana congratulated the newly-commissioned officers on their achievements. The same day, COAS Rana witnessed the pipping of selected foreign Gentlemen Cadets who underwent successful training at the IMA and also oath taking ceremony. A total of 700 Gentlemen Cadets, including 64 foreign cadets, had passed out from the IMA. The overseas cadets were from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Papua New Guinea and Tajikistan. The IMA at Dehradun is one of the premier institutes of the Indian Army. He also visited Indian Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in New Delhi. During his India visit, COAS Rana also met Charge d' Affaires of Nepal in Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi. Concluding his third official visit, COAS Gen Rana returned home from New Delhi on June 17, 2014.
