'Exercise Pacific Angel 2014', a joint humanitarian assistance programme, concluded on September 15, 2014 amidst a closing ceremony organized at Chitwan. Major General Baldev Raj Mahat, GOC Mid Division, gave his closing remarks at the occasion. Similarly, Maj Gen Michael B. Compton, USPACOM, J5MA, also took the stage to extend his appreciation to all involved in making the exercise a success. The exercise was conducted by the Nepalese Army in conjunction with the United States Pacific Air force (PACAF) at various places of Chitwan and Makwanpur Districts from 8 September till 15 September 2014. Earlier, on September 08, 2014, Major General Baldev Raj Mahat, GOC Mid Division, had inaugurated the 'Exercise Pacific Angel 2014' amidst a function at Makwanpur. 'Exercise Pacific Angel 2014' included health services in the field of optometry, pediatrics & dental among others, as well as Medical Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) and Engineering Civic Action Programme (ENCAP). A total of 5471 locals were given the medical services through medical camp within Health Services Outreach programme. The Blast Injury Management exercise at Birendra Hospital Chhauni and First Responder exercise at Bharatpur Hospital were also conducted under the Medical SMEEs programme. Beside members from the Nepalese Army & US PACAF, Royal Australian Air Force, Bangladeshi Air Force, Mongolian Armed Forces, Chitwan College of Medical Sciences along with different government and non-governmental organizations had participated in the exercise. Programmes like Pacific Angel has helped cultivate common bonds and foster goodwill between Nepal, the U.S. and other nations by conducting multilateral humanitarian assistance and civil military operations.
