A one-day event â€˜2nd COAS National Tri-Marathon Competition-2072â€™ was held in Dhading District on July 30, 2015 in which Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Gaurav SJB Rana was present as the Chief Guest.
The fun-filled team event included three elements: running (6.8 km), biking (26.5 km) and rafting (10 km)-in that order totaling a distance of 43.3 km. A total of 8 teams participated in the event of which 4 teams were from Tribhuwan Army Club (TAC). Other participating teams were Lalitpur Bike Station, Kathmandu Bike Station, Himalayan Single Track and Armed Police Force (APF). Each registered team included four team members.
TAC â€˜Dâ€™ finished first with a time of 2 hours 29 minutes 16 seconds, 1 minutes 49 seconds ahead of the departmental team TAC â€˜Aâ€™ while TAC â€˜Bâ€™ finished the race in the third position respectively.. The event had started from Baireni to end at the banks of Trisuli River at Charundi where the closing ceremony took place.
COAS Gen Rana handed over the winnerâ€™s trophy, individual medallions and a cheque of NRs 1,00,000 to the champion TAC â€˜Dâ€™. Similarly, CGS Lt Gen Rajendra Chhetri awarded NRs 75,000 to first-runner up TAC â€˜Aâ€™ and COS Lt Gen Baladev Raj Mahat awarded NRs 50,000 to second runner-up TAC â€˜Bâ€™. All contestants also received a certificate of participation.
Present on the occasion were Generals, officers, junior commissioned officers & other ranks of Nepalese Army, representatives of cycling & rafting association, media persons and other sport enthusiasts.
The Nepalese Army is thrilled to have successfully organized this fun-filled adventurous event and plans to give continuity in days to come.
