Ser No 3 Higher Command and Management Course concludes

<div align="left"><p></p></div><p class="imgbox2" style="margin-left: 10px;"><img width="361" height="229" src="http://www.nepalarmy.mil.np/newsimages/hcmc-20730207-01.jpg"></p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri concluded the Ser No 3 Higher Command and Management Course (HCMC), amidst a special ceremony organized at Nepalese Army (NA) War College, Nagarkot on May 20, 2016.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">Altogether 25 student officers (Colonels) participated in the three month long training that started on February 14, 2016.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">Addressing the ceremony, COAS Chhetri highlighted the importance of HCMC and was optimistic that the training will enable the future senior leaders to make effective decisions and develop sound plans in the modern and complex operational environment.</p><p class="imgbox1" style="margin-right: 10px; margin-left: 10px;"><img width="361" height="229" src="http://www.nepalarmy.mil.np/newsimages/hcmc-20730207-02.jpg"></p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">COAS Chhetri awarded the "Best Student Award", certificate and cash prize of NRs. 30,000 to Colonel Padam Bahadur Singh Thakuri who stood first in the course while Colonel Chok Bahadur Dhakal won the first prize in Academic Writing along with the cash prize of NRs. 20,000. COAS Chhetri also awarded the certificates to all the graduating student officers.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">Speaking on the occasion, COAS Chhetri emphasised the duty of the NA to safeguard the sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and national unity and anticipated that the training have helped to develop high degree of situational awareness and professional competency, in addition to firm ethos and values to achieve the core values of NA.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">He added that as the future commanders and leaders, the student officers must develop analytical minds to grasp the complexity characterizing the modern day war-fighting as well as military operations other than war and shoulder the primary responsibility of directing junior leaders towards achieving the goals set out by the strategic and operational leadership.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">COAS Chhetri said that the competency, professional knowledge and standards of conduct are crucial to the development of the institution and believed the student officers will increase their proficiency in management skills and be well versed on latest international affairs and trends in military strategy. He anticipated the use of those skills and knowledge in various regional and international forums at different capacities, projecting the NA's glorious image in the international arena.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Valley Divison Major General Sarad Kumar Giri presented the welcome speech in the beginning of the ceremony.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px;">Also present at the programme were Defense Secretary Mahesh Prasad Dahal, former COASes, serving and retired Generals, high ranking officers from Security Agencies, Professors, former Commandants of the College, officials from Civil Administrative Staff College and representatives from Defense Ministry.</p><p><img width="800" src="http://www.nepalarmy.mil.np/newsimages/hcmc-20730207-03.jpg"></p><p>&nbsp;</p>
