"COAS Trophy 2073" concludes

A ceremony was held to mark the conclusion by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri at Nepalese Army Physical Fitness and Training Centre, Lagankhel.<br></p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">COAS Gen Chhetri presented the Division Level Football Running Shield to Directorate of Air Defense, who secured a victory over the MID-western Division in the final match of the running shield football competition.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">During the event, COAS Gen Chhetri felicitated L/Cpl Saraswati Bhattarai and Sirish Gurung of Tribhuwan Army Club (Contract), who set the new national records in women's 1500m and men's 100m free style swimming respectively during the Rio Olympics 2016.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Likewise, COAS Gen Chhetri presented the "Ajeyabal Trophy (Female)" to L/Cpl Krishna Kumari Chaudhary of Jagadal Battalion and the "Ajeyabal Trophy (Male)" to Cpl Deepak Shrestha of Pashupati Prashad Battalion during the same event. COAS Gen Chhetri also gave away the "Life Time Achievement Award" to six national sporting personalities (Retd.), namely Taekwondo players WO2 Dhurba Bahadur Gurung (Retd.) and Cpl Shankar Tamang (Retd.), Footballer WO2 Babukaji Dhaubanjar (Retd.), Boxer Sgt. Purna Bahadur Gurung (Retd.), Weightlifter Sgt. Gyan Bahadur Shrestha (Retd.) and Swimmer Cpl Sitaram SHahi (Retd.).</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">During the closing ceremony, Director General of Military Training &amp; Doctrine (DGMT &amp; D), Major Gen Ramesh Kumar Pun delivered the closing speech. Ex-COASs of Nepalese Army, high ranking officials of Nepalese Army and other Security Forces, residential Military Attaches, officials of National Sports Council (NSC) and media personnel were present during the occasion.</p><p class="newstxt" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14px; margin-right: 30px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: justify; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Nepalese Army believes, this kind of sports competition enhances the development of physical fitness, skills, discipline and moral character of a sport person, which ultimately prepare the players to participate and win the national and international sport event.</p>
