"COAS 2nd National Men's Volleyball Tournament" Concludes

<div>"COAS 2nd National Men's Volley Tournament" concluded at Nepalese Army Physical Training and Sports Center (APTSC), Lagankhel on January 27, 2017. In the final match of the competition between Nepal Police Club (NPC) and Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), TAC defeated Nepal Police Club in three straight sets with a score of 25-23, 25-23, 25-17 to become the champion.</div><div><br></div><div>COAS Gen Chhetri awarded the championship trophy, medals, certificates and Cheque board to the Champion team. The champions, TAC, bagged three lakhs rupees (NPR 3,00,000), first runners up NPC received one lakh fifty thousand rupees (NPR 1,50,000) and the second runners up Western Region received Seventy five thousand rupees (NPR 75,000).</div><div><br></div><div>Dhan Bdr Chhetri, Ishwor Thapa Magar, Hari Hajur Thapa and Jagadish Bdr Bhatta of TAC were declared as the best spiker, the best defender, the best blocker and the best coach respectively . Likewise, Im Rana Magar of NPC was judged the best lifter of the tournament. The best players in each category (Spiker, Defender, Lifter and Blocker) and the best coach of the tournament were awarded with ten thousand rupees each. Man Bahadur Shrestha of TAC was awarded a Bajaj Motorcycle, sponsored by the Golcha Organisation, for being the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament.</div><div><br></div><div>Likewise, COAS Gen Chhetri felicitated Brig Gen Bijaya Bikram Khadka (Retd.) and Maj Akkal Bahadur Chand (Retd.) with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the closing ceremony.</div><div><br></div><div>The National level league-cum-knockout Volleyball competition organized by Nepalese Army in technical assistance from Nepal Volleyball Association started on January 22, 2016. Altogether eight teams, three departmental and five regional teams, participated in the tournament.</div><div><br></div><div>Ex- Chief of the Army staffs of NA, Nepal Olympic Committee Chairman, General Officers of NA, high ranking officials of other security forces, officials of Nepal Volleyball Association, NA officers, representative of Nepal Investment Bank and Golcha Organisation, media personnel and enthusiasts sports lovers were present during the opening ceremony.</div>
