COAS Gen Chhetri Left for Sri Lanka

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri departed for the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on an official invitation from Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, on January 17, 2018.

Chief of the General Staff (CGS) Lt Gen Purna Chandra Thapa bade farewell to COAS Gen Chhetri at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). A troop of Nepali Army presented the Guard of honour to COAS Gen Chhetri prior to his departure. General Officers of Nepali Army, HE Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal and Military Attachés of foreign embassies in Kathmandu were present during the occasion.

COAS Gen Chhetri is accompanied by his spouse Ms. Rita Chhetri and seven other members.

During his nine-day stay in Sri Lanka, COAS Gen Chhetri is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the Right Honourable President Maithripala Sirisena, Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Hon. State Minister of Defence, Commanders of the Navy and Air Force as parts of his itinerary in Sri Lanka. COAS Gen Chhetri will also have inspection visits to the important Command Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army whilst on visit.

Ending his visit, COAS Gen Chhetri will return back to Nepal on January 25, 2018. During his absence, CGS Lt Gen Purna Chandra Thapa will be the officiating COAS of Nepali Army.
