COAS Continues Sri Lanka Visit

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri paid a courtesy call on HE Pallewatte Gamaralalage Maithripala Yapa Sirisena, the Right Honourable President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, at the President’s House on January 19, 2018. Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army was also present during the call-on.

On the same day, COAS General Rajendra Chhetri had separate courtesy audiences with Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr Kapila Waidyaratne PC and Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne in their respective offices.

Continuing his visit, COAS General Chhetri visited the Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters on January 18, 2018 and met Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, commander of Sri Lanka Air Force. Similarly, he also visited Sri Lanka Naval Headquarters on January 19, 2018 and met Vice Admiral Sirimevan Sarathchandra Ranasinghe, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.

On January 20, 2018, COAS General Chhetri paid a formal visit to the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) as part of his itinerary in Sri Lanka.

COAS General Chhetri departed for the Sri Lanka visit on an official invitation from Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, on January 17, 2018.

Ending his visit, COAS General Chhetri will return back to Nepal on January 25, 2018.
