TAC Defends "COAS 3rd National Men's Volleyball " Title

TAC Defends

Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Nepali Army, has defended the title of 'Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) 3rd National Men’s Volleyball Tournament' defeating Western region on Saturday (February 24, 2018). In the summit clash held during the closing ceremony of the tournament at Nepali Army Physical Training and Sports Centre (APTSC), TAC overcame the challenge of Western region in 3-1 sets.

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri, Chief Guest of the closing ceremony, handed over the championship trophy, certificates and cheque of three lakhs rupees (NPR 3,00,000) to the champions TAC. The runner-up Western region was rewarded with one lakh fifty thousand rupees (NPR 1,50,000) and the third placed team Nepal Police received seventy five thousand rupees (NPR 50,000).

Ishor K.C. of TAC was declared the best player of the tournament to receive a Bajaj Pulasr Motercycle. Kapil Kishor Shrestha, Man Bahadur Shrestha and Bhairab Bam of TAC were declared best coach, best spiker and best blocker respectively. Likewise, the best defender award went to Deepak Thapa of western region while Im Bahadur Magar of Nepal Police was judged the best lifter. The best coach and the best players in each category were awarded Rs 10,000 each.

During the closing ceremony, COAS Gen Chhetri felicitated the four former National volleyball players of Nepali Army (retd.) for their contribution. Likewise, the representatives of Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL), the sponsor of the COAS Volleyball Tournament, were also honoured on the same occasion.

The National level Volleyball competition organized by Nepali Army in technical assistance from All Nepal Volleyball Association included three departmental and five regional teams. The participating teams were Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Nepal Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police Club, Eastern region, Mid-Western region, Western region, Central region and Far Western region.

Former COASs of Nepali Army, defence secretary, heads of the sister security organisation, General Officers of NA, high ranking officials of other security forces, officials of All Nepal Volleyball Association, NA officers, representative of Nepal Investment Bank, media personnel and enthusiastic sports lovers were present during the closing ceremony.
