‘Ex-Servicemen Gathering-2074’ concludes

‘Ex-Servicemen Gathering (Dhankuta, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha & Bhojpur)’ concluded amid a function organized at Hile Barrack, Dhankuta on March 10, 2018. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest.

The two-day veterans' gathering, organised under the management of Nepali Army (NA) in conjunction with the Nepali Army Welfare Board (NAWB), started from March 09, 2018. Altogether, six hundred hundred sixty-four (664) Ex-Servicemen and their dependent from Dhankuta, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur districts participated the gathering. Similarly, free medical camps were also conducted in different parts of the Dhankuta, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur districts, starting from March 7 to March 9, 2018, coinciding with the two-day-long gathering. A total of three hundred thirty-three (333) personnel (including ex-servicemen, servicemen, their dependent and civilians) were treated in the various medical camps.

Under the Micro Finance Loan Scheme conducted by NAWB in collaboration with Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL), the debtors were handed over the Cheques during the gathering. Likewise, wheelchairs were also distributed to physically challenged personnel during the closing ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Ex-Servicemen presented an enthusiastic march-past while Nepali Army band displayed various musical performances. Earlier, Honorary Maj Gen Padam Bilash Karki (Retd.), Executive Officer of NAWB, delivered the welcome speech. At the end of the ceremony, Chief of the General Staff (CGS), Lt Gen Purna Chandra Thapa delivered the closing speech to formally conclude the ceremony. COAS Gen Chhetri, after the gathering, interacted with the Ex-Servicemen and received various feedbacks. The NA will continue to reach the veterans via these kinds of gatherings in near future as well. General officers of NA, representatives of governmental organizations, officers and other ranks of the NA, media personal, ex-servicemen and their dependents and other invitees were present during the closing ceremony.
