COAS Departs for India

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri left for the Republic of India for an official visit on Wednesday (June 06, 2018), at an invitation extended by his Indian counterpart General Bipin Rawat, COAS Indian Army.

Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Purna Chandra Thapa bade farewell to COAS Gen Chhetri at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). General officers of the Nepali Army (NA), representative of Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Defense Attachés of foreign embassies in Nepal were also present on the occasion. A troop of NA presented the 'Guard of Honour' to COAS Gen Chhetri before his departure.

During his India visit, COAS General Chhetri will attend the Officer Cadet's 'Passing Out Parade' as Chief Reviewing officer at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun on June 09, 2018.

In his absence, CGS Lt Gen Thapa will officiate as the Acting Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of Nepali Army.

Ending his six-day visit, COAS Gen Chhetri will return home on June 11, 2018.
