The Serial Number 5 'Higher Command and Management Course (HCMC-5)' concluded amid a special closing ceremony held at Valley Division Headquarters, Kathmandu on July 01, 2018. The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. The three-month course that started on March 18, 2018 was attended by 29 student officers of the Nepali Army in the ranks of Colonel, at Nepali Army War College, Nagarkot.
COAS Gen Chhetri awarded the "Best Student Award", certificate and cash prize of NRs. 25,000 to Colonel Himanshu Khadka, who stood first in the course. Likewise, Colonel Dipesh Jung Shah received a cash prize of NRs. 25,000 for the best Academic Writing. COAS Gen Chhetri also awarded the certificates to all the graduating student officers.
Addressing the closing ceremony, COAS Gen Chhetri reminds that this course was started five years ago to enhance the Professional Military Education (PME) in the Nepali Army and added that the course was designed to enable our future military leaders to make effective decisions and sound plans, enabling the senior officers to guide their junior leaders in complex operating environments. He believed that this course has prepared the students officers adequately, to meet all future challenges.
Speaking at the occasion, COAS Chhetri emphasized that the prime responsibility of the NA is to safeguard sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and national unity of Nepal as enshrined in the constitution of Nepal and he firmly believed that the training have adequately prepared the student officers to understand these responsibilities.
He congratulated all student officers and their spouses and thanked the chief instructor, the commandant, directing staffs and faculty members among others for all the hard work they put in. He also reiterated his gratitude to the various subject matter experts, who have added so much value to the course.
Chief Instructor (CI) of the course, Major General Sashi Chandra Bahadur Singh delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the ceremony.
Former Chief of the Army Staff, serving and retired General officers of NA, professor and subject matter experts, faculty members & officers of NA along with media personnel were also present at the programme.
