Maha Shivaratri and Army Day-2075

"Maha Shivaratri and Army Day-2075" was celebrated amid a spectacular ceremony held at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel on March 04, 2019. The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Right Honourable President and Supreme Commander of Nepali Army (NA) Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari paid homage to the martyrs at the "Bir Smarak" before receiving the "Guard of Honour" by a troop of Nepali Army.

The ceremony was carried out in phases. The ceremony started with the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Purna Chandra Thapa presenting the colours to Kalisiddhi Battalion (E), and Second Ranger Battalion. He also awarded chief of the army staff banner for Operation Readiness Inspection champion to Kalidhwoj Battalion. Followed by the traditional and celebratory firing from rifles and canons, March past, military skills and drills demonstrated by various units and formations.

The signifying banner of Army Day 2075 and showering of flowers were displayed by the helicopters of Nepali Army. With the coordination of the Valley Division, Number One Brigade, Sharduljung Company, Nepali Army Band, Second Ranger Battalion, Kalishiddhi Battalion (E), Kalidhwoj Battalion, Chandidal Battalion, Birdal Battalion, Bishnudal Battalion, Durgabox Battalion, Gorakh Bahadur Battalion, Bhairav Battalion, Rajdal Battalion, Peacekeeping Troops, Gorakhkali Battalion, Players of Tribhuwan Army Club, NCC Cadets, presented an impressive march-past. The march-past was followed by the display of Artillery equipment, Combat Engineers Equipment, Signal, Air Defence Equipment, Banner of Nature Conservation, Equipment used in United Nations Peacekeeping Mission, Armoured Protected Vehicles (APCs), Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs), Ferret Cars, Development & Construction and Mobile Hospital.

The Para training school conducted a free fall jump demonstration by experienced jump masters in two sticks with National flag of Nepal, flag of the Chief of the Army Staff and flags marking divisions of Nepali army. Similarly various military arts and skills were also demonstrated.

At the end of the ceremony, the Chief Guest, the Right Honourable President and Supreme Commander of Nepali Army Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari, unveiled the Nepali Army annual journal “Sipahi 2075” and also distributed prizes to the winners of the Free Fall Jump.

Every year, the Nepali Army celebrates the 'Army Day' on the auspicious occasion of "Maha-Shivaratri." The Nepali Army marks Army day, reaffirming its devotion to the people and the nation, reflecting its organizational unity, characterized by patriotism and military professionalism.

The Army Day ceremony was attended by Right Honourable Vice-president, Right Honourable Prime Minister, Right Honourable Speaker House of Representative, Right Honourable Chairman of National Assembly, Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Honourable Ministers, Defence Secretary, secretaries of government of Nepal, heads of sister security organizations, high level dignitaries of Nepal Government, ambassadors of various embassies in Kathmandu, former COASs, general officers, former general officers, officers of NA, Journalists and other noted personalities among others.
