NEPBATT-XXV, serving in UN Peacekeeping Mission in MONUSCO, Congo, celebrated Peacekeepers Day 2019 to pay tribute to the professionalism, dedication and courage of all the men and women serving in UN peacekeeping operations and honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace with three-day program 29-31 May 2019. Along with honoring the UN Peacekeepers, three - day program was also focused to strengthen intimacy with the locals. These activities show our respect towards UN Peacekeepers as well as our dedication towards peace process of DR Congo.
On 1st day of celebration, NepBatt conducted CIMIC activities in the Don de Dieu Primary School, NZIBIRA.
On 2nd Day of Celebration, A team interacted with local women at SCD- NZIBIRA about their problems that can be addressed by NepBatt. Staff nurse of NepBatt Level-I hospital conducted a hygiene and sanitation awareness session focusing the women. The team also visited NZIBIRA Health Center and interacted with the pregnant women and women at the postnatal period. On the same day, COB WALUNGU Bn HQ organized friendly basketball match between NepBatt and WALUNGU Basketball Club inside the Bn premises.
On 3rd day of celebration, NepBatt organized UN Flag hoisting ceremony inside Bn Premises. In the ceremony, UN Flag was hoisted by WALUNGU Territory Administrator, Senior National Officer and Commanding Officer of NepBatt followed with Guard of honor. In the ceremony, all officers of NepBatt, Deputy Territory Administrator, WALUNGU Groupment chief, ANR Officer, rep of FARDC, President of Civil Society of WALUNGU had also participated. NepBatt also exhibited various pictures depicting the performed peace keeping activities and, its professionalism and dedication towards the peace process of DR Congo. Finally, WALUNGU Territory Administrator wrapped up the ceremony with appreciation speech to NepBatt, MONUSCO's devotion in the peace process of DR Congo.
