COAS Gen Thapa Departs for Bangladesh

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Purna Chandra Thapa departed for People's Republic of Bangladesh on an official invitation of Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of Bangledesh Army, General Aziz Ahmed, BSP, BGBM, PBGM, BGBMS, psc, G on January 12, 2020.

Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt Gen Sarad Giri bade farewell to COAS Gen Thapa at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Prior to his departure to Bangladesh, COAS Gen Thapa was accorded a Guard of Honor from a troop of Nepali Army at army headquarters. Ambassador of Bangladeshi to Nepal, General Officers of NA and residential Defense Attaches were present during the occasion.

During his stay in Bangladesh, COAS Gen Thapa will meet Right Honourable President of Bangladesh and high level military officials of Bangladesh Army in separate meetings. COAS Gen Thapa is also scheduled to visit various military formations and installations while in Bangladesh.

During his absence, CGS Lt Gen Sarad Giri will be the officiating COAS of NA.

Ending the visit, the seven-member delegation led by COAS Gen Thapa will return home on January 15, 2020.
