Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Purna Chandra Thapa provided the insignia of Second Lieutenant to newly commissioned officer cadets of Ser. No. 58 Officer Cadet Course and Ser. No. 48 J/NCO Officer Cadet Course amid a special programme held at Nepali Military Academy (NMA), Kharipati, Bhaktapur on April 08, 2020.
All together 152 officer cadets including 14 female officer cadets, 114 male officer cadets, 18 J/NCO officer cadets, 2 officer cadet of Ser. No. 55 Officer Cadet Course (who completed their course from Sri Lanka) and 4 foreign officer cadets graduated from the 24-month course. O/Cdt Surendra Bahadur Bohara was awarded the "Sword of Honour" for standing first in the Basic while O/Cdt Kripa Adhikari took the "Cane of Honour" and "Best in Academic Award. J/NCO Cadet Santaman Shrestha was awarded the "Sword of Honour" in J/NCO Basic Course while O/Cdt Kipkirui Rutto Benard from Kenya was awarded the "The Best International Officer Cadet".
COAS Gen Thapa read out the message send by Right Honorable Prime Minister Mr. KP Sharma Oli. In his message, Rt. Hon. PM congratulated the newly commissioned officers and lauded their patience, hard work and determination displayed during the rigorous training. He also applauded the professional, honest and dutiful role of Nepali Army in the United Nations in the peacekeeping operations in various parts of the world. He also thanked all the stakeholders involved in making this course successful.
