Medical Supplies required to combat COVID-19 pandemic, procured by Nepali Army arrived in Kathmandu from Guangzhou, China on May 19, 2020. 18.7 tons of medical equipment was brought from China on a wide-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines.
Likewise, on May 16 and May 19, 2020, Nepali Army has already brought 441 cubic meters of medical supplies in 15 containers by road. Seven more containers with medical equipment are currently at Tatopani Customs Office and will head for Kathmandu on May 20, 2020 after finishing its 24 hours quarantine period. Furthermore, eight other containers will leave for Kathmandu from Guangzhou, China on May 21, 2020.
Medical Supplies brought by land rout are currently in Gauchar Barrack of Nepali Army while the 18.7 tons of supplies brought by air will be stored in the same place on May 20, 2020.
As per the Council of Ministers' decision on March 29, 2020, Nepali Army was tasked to procure medical supplies required to combat COVID-19 through Government-to-Government process.
