Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Purna Chandra Thapa was honoured with 'Academy Hall of Fame' award by providing the 'Certificate of Honour' amidst the 'Academic Hall of Fame' Induction Ceremony held at Nepali Military Academy (NMA), Kharipati, Bhaktapur on February 23, 2021.
In line with the tradition of honouring the highest ranked national and international officers commissioned from the respective academy, COAS General Thapa's Portrait was inducted into the 'Academy Hall of Fame' in the NMA, Kharipati, Bhaktapur. In the history of Nepali Army, COAS General Thapa is the second Chief of the Army Staff to be commissioned from this academy.
The 'Academic Hall of Fame' was founded for the first time in NMA in 2018 when COAS General Rajendra Chhetri (Retd.) was honoured with the award. The 'Academic Hall of Fame' will provide an excellent opportunity to recognize national and international graduates of Nepali Military Academy, who have attained through merit the highest command positions in their respective Armies. The inductees are presented with a 'Certificate of Honour' and a framed portrait of the inductee is displayed on the top of the 'Academy Hall of Fame' of the Prithivi Narayan Bhawan of the Academy.
Secretary of Ministry of Defense, former COASs, General Officers of NA, high ranking officials of the sister security organizations, Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur, Former Commandants & Dean of Nepali Military Academy among others were present during the Induction Ceremony.
