CoAS India Visit
Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS), General Gaurav SJB Rana had left for the Republic of India upon an official invitation from his counterpart General Bikram Singh on January 6, 2013. Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt. General Nepal Bhusan bade farewell to CoAS Rana at Tribhuwan International Airport. Generals and high ranking officers of the NA, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy and resident Defense Attachés of various nations in Nepal were also present on the occasion. A troop of NA presented the 'Guard of Honour' to CoAS Rana. In his absence, Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Nepal Bhusan Chand will officiate as the Acting Chief of Army Staff. On the first day of the visit, CoAS General Rana attended a reception hosted by Indian Army Chief General Singh in his honour in the evening. On Jan 7, CoAS Rana laid the wreath to the brave martyrs at 'Amar Jawan Jyoti' followed by a meeting with his counterpart. In the afternoon, the CoAS visited Centre for United Nation Peace Keeping(CUNPK). Later in the day, CoAS Rana also met with Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi and Air Chief Marshal Nak Browne. On Jan 8 Rt Honorable Indian President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Honorary Rank of General of the Indian Army to CoAS Rana in the Investiture Ceremony held at the Presidential Palace. Later in the day , CoAS Rana called on Indian Defence Advisor Shiva Shankar Menon. CoAS Rana also met with Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Director General of Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) On Jan 9, CoAS Rana visited the Army War College(MHOW) at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Commandant of the College, Lt Gen P.G. Kamath welcomed CoAS Rana. Many Nepalese Ranks have been trained in the MHOW in various fields of Infantry and Signal Trainings. Later in the day,he also visited the farm at Jhahua. On Jan 10, CoAS Rana visited the South Command HQs located in Pune. The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief(GOC-in-Chief) of the South Command Lt.Gen. A.K. Singh welcomed CoAS Rana and briefed about the responsibilities and current status of the Command. In the afternoon, CoAS Rana also visited Air Force Station at Pune. On Jan 11, CoAS Rana visit Hindustan Aeronautical Limited(HAL), Banglore where he was briefed about the Aircraft Divison and Assembly Composite Manufacturing Division. On Jan 12, CoAS Rana visited the Ordnance Factory situated at Hyderabad where he was presented about the factory. Later in the day, he left for Eastern Command in Kolkatta, West Bengal. GOC-in-chief of Eastern Command, Lt Gen Dalbir Singh hosted a reception in honour of CoAS Rana. On Jan 13, CoAS Rana arrived in Northen Command of the Indian Army at Guwahati, Assam. GOC-in-chief of Northern Command, Lt Gen KT Parnaik hosted a reception in honour of CoAS Rana. On Jan 15, CoAS Rana to return home from India. He was welcomed by CGS Lt Gen Nepal Bhusan Chand at TIA. Generals and high ranking officers of the NA, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy and resident Defense Attachés of various nations in Nepal were also present on the occasion.
